Attorney General Opens Public Prosecution HQ in Khartoum, Signals Return of Rule of Law

Khartoum: Attorney General and Chair of the National Committee for Investigating Crimes and Violations of National and International Humanitarian Law, Intisar Ahmed Abdel Aal, inaugurated the Public Prosecution headquarters in Khartoum and the National Investigation Committee's offices on Tuesday, marking the return of justice institutions to the capital. According to Sudan News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, First Assistant Attorney General Kamil Mahjoub Ahmed Hussein, and senior Public Prosecution officials. Speaking after the inauguration, Intisar Abdel Aal confirmed the full return of the prosecution leadership and staff from Red Sea State, thanking the state government for its past support. She described the move as a key step in reinforcing the rule of law and enabling state institutions to resume normal operations. Abdel Aal said efforts would intensify to deliver prompt justice, pursue perpetrators of crimes and violations, and protect public and priva te rights, in coordination with judicial bodies, thereby consolidating Sudan's legal institutions. She also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity. Khartoum Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza praised the prosecution's role during the war, welcomed its return, and pledged state support to overcome operational challenges, ensure smooth judicial procedures, and strengthen security and the rule of law.
