El-Fashir: More than 18 civilians have been killed, over 30 injured, and the health center in the Abu Shouk IDP camp is out of service due to ongoing artillery shelling by the terrorist rebel militia of Al-Dagalo. The situation has worsened security and humanitarian conditions within the camp, located in El-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State.
According to Sudan News Agency, the emergency chamber at Abu Shouk camp reported that the shelling has severely impacted the camp’s residents, leading to a dire health situation marked by a lack of medical supplies and food shortages. The camp’s health center and private clinics have ceased operations due to medicine shortages, forcing residents to rely on minimal sustenance from drinking flour water, Okra sauce, and Molokhia without any porridge.
The chamber further stated that several charitable collective kitchens, which previously provided meals, have stopped functioning as support and grants have dried up. Currently, only one kitchen remains operational, supported by the Moves organization, but it is insufficient to meet the needs of the camp’s large displaced population.
The chamber highlighted the urgent need for relief efforts, pointing out that bombing, hunger, thirst, and disease are daily threats to the camp’s residents. It also identified more than 300 individuals with special needs and elderly people who are unable to leave the camp due to dangerous roads and financial constraints. The chamber emphasized the necessity of providing relief to children and establishing safe corridors for aid delivery.
