Algerian Organizations Rally in Support of Sudanese People

Algiers: Algerian civil society organizations and associations organized a solidarity vigil with the Sudanese people on Saturday, led by the National Organization for Civil Society and the Alliance for the Future, and in coordination with the Sudanese Embassy in Algeria. This initiative came as an expression of the deep bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between the Algerian and Sudanese peoples.

According to Sudan News Agency, representatives of various Algerian entities participated in the vigil, wearing the flags of both countries, along with members of the People’s Provincial Assembly of Chlef Province, a number of media professionals and human rights activists, and representatives of the women’s and youth sectors.

The Head of the National Organization for Civil Society and the Alliance for the Future, Odei Abdel-Raouf, delivered a statement affirming unwavering and absolute solidarity with Sudan, its leadership and people, in the face of the systematic attacks and challenges that threaten the country’s unity and stability. Abdul-Raouf called for respect for the will of the Sudanese people and the rejection of all forms of negative foreign interference, stressing his organization’s readiness to participate in any humanitarian or civil initiatives that alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

For her part, Sudan’s Ambassador to Algeria, Nadia Mohamed Khair Osman, expressed her deep gratitude for this generous initiative, praising the sincerity of the feelings of solidarity that reflect the deep historical and emotional ties between the two peoples. She pointed to the grave violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, with the support of regional powers, targeting the country’s resources, infrastructure, and even Sudanese cultural memory.

The ambassador affirmed the Sudanese people’s strong support for their armed forces in their constitutional battle to protect national sovereignty and restore security and stability, pointing to the victories achieved by the armed forces on various fronts.

The vigil also featured interventions by a number of Algerian civil figures and leaderships, including former Minister Bashir Mustafa, Chairman of the Algerian Foundation for Tomorrow’s Industry, who spoke about the historical targeting of Sudan due to its strategic location and natural resources. Speeches by others continued to include Nourredine Ben Zaim, President of the Algerian Association for the Promotion of Citizens and Human Rights, representative of the National Organization in Mila Province; Ahlam Mansouri, representative of the Ministry of Solidarity and Family, who expressed her solidarity with Sudanese women; Dr. Abdullah Tamin, President of the Algerian National Unity Initiative; and Jamila Chatitah, President of the Ambassadors of Peace and Participatory Democracy Foundation. The speakers unanimously expressed their full support for Sudan and solidarity with its people.

The event concluded with Ambassador Nadia Mohamed Khair Osman being honored by the President of the Organization in recognition of her role in strengthening relations between the two countries. The Ambassador expressed her hopes for the return of security, stability, and development to Sudan soon.
