Al-gezira: The Secretary-General of the Government of Al-Gezira State and representative of its Wali, Murtada Ismail Al-Beeli, emphasized the importance of developing human capacity and implementing legal reforms aligned with post-war realities to strengthen state revenues. He highlighted the need for a unified institutional purpose and strict application of electronic collection systems during a workshop focused on Developing and Enhancing Revenues.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Beeli advocated for broader revenue expansion, activation of long-pending collections across various sectors, improved enforcement of residential fees, and the creation of new, citizen-friendly revenue sources. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to implementing the recommendations from the workshop.
The Minister of Finance, Economy, and Manpower, Atif Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shawk, remarked that the workshop is part of preparations for crafting a scientific budget that effectively addresses reconstruction and development challenges. This budget aims to enable Al-Gezira to reclaim its role as a key driver of the national economy. He underscored the importance of adopting flexible, practical recommendations that bolster reliance on local resources and foster the generation of new ones.
Dr. Ali Khalifa, the Director-General of the ministry, mentioned that the workshop is part of a series of programs designed to mobilize the state’s financial capacities. He reviewed ongoing efforts to secure revenues amid challenging conditions and stressed the necessity to stabilize strategic commodities and enhance investment services to attract investors.
The workshop covered three key areas: revenue development, governance, and state revenue enhancement.
