Port sudan: Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, affirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment to promoting community peace and consolidating the values of peaceful coexistence, despite the challenges facing the country. He noted that Sudan possesses a vast cultural wealth, which serves as a cornerstone for building a more stable and unified future.
According to Sudan News Agency, this statement was made during his address to the Cultural Diversity and Emotional Reconciliation Forum under the slogan ‘Sudanese Emotional Reconciliation’ at Al-Rabwa Hotel in Port Sudan. The event was attended by the Representative of the Red Sea Wali, Khalifa Mohamed Ahmed, the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Dr. Greham Abdel-Gadir and Ms. Somaya Al-Hadi, as well as a number of officials and cultural stakeholders.
The minister emphasized the importance of culture in building a nation capable of fully realizing its potential through its historical and cultural diversity. He extended his salutations to the Armed Forces, all supporting forces, and the people of Sudan in displacement and refugee camps.
He affirmed that his ministry will continue implementing its programs, stressing that cultural action is a national responsibility aimed at enhancing social peace and combating hate speech everywhere. He added that culture is not merely arts or words but represents ‘the spirit of society and its pillar of resilience.’
Al-Eisir also paid tribute to the staff of the Ministry of Culture and Information, describing them as ‘the army’ on which the ministry relies in its battle against misinformation and negative propaganda. He noted that their efforts in the past period have thwarted attempts to hinder media and cultural work, pointing to achievements in media and tourism, as well as the recovery of media equipment, materials, and heritage, as evidence of their dedication.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Dr. Greham Abdel-Gadir, stated that culture constitutes a key pillar of any national renaissance, highlighting the role of cultural policies in promoting cooperation, peace, and development, and in building a solid cultural foundation that embraces the wide diversity that characterizes Sudan.
Dr. Greham noted that Sudan possesses a rich historical and cultural legacy, documented over many decades by Sudanese and foreign researchers and historians, confirming that culture can play a central role in establishing stability and building peace.
Meanwhile, the Representative of the Red Sea Wali, Khalifa Mohamed Ahmed, emphasized that culture represents peace, development, and security, serving as a national bond and a pillar of community peace. He underscored the importance of the workshop in producing recommendations that strengthen social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
