Port sudan: Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir inaugurated the first phase of the Public Authority for Radio and Television’s new regional centre in Port Sudan. He was accompanied by Red Sea Wali Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour.
According to Sudan News Agency, Al-Eisir emphasized the ministry’s dedication to rehabilitating and constructing media centres across other states, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve national media performance and its presence. He expressed gratitude to President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, for supporting the facility’s development and future programs. He also thanked various leaders, including the Prime Minister, TSC Member Lt. Gen. Eng. Ibrahim Jabir, the TSC Secretary-General Gen. Mohamed Al-Ghali, the Minister of Finance Gebreil Ibrahim, and the Red Sea Wali, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour.
The inauguration of the first phase marks a significant addition to Sudan’s media infrastructure, providing a platform that reflects the voice of eastern Sudan. Al-Eisir described the centre as emblematic of cooperation in building a unified national media landscape and paid tribute to the martyrs of Sudan TV and the Martyr Osman Makawi Centre in the Battle of Dignity.
Al-Eisir also mentioned efforts to rehabilitate key facilities, such as the headquarters of the Public Authority for Radio and Television in Khartoum, state centres, and the Sudan News Agency, aiming to establish a modern media system nationwide. He applauded media professionals for their dedication.
The minister acknowledged the General Intelligence Service’s role in recovering lost artifacts, emphasizing the return of archival materials documenting significant stages in Sudan’s history, as well as retrieving broadcasting equipment and vehicles. He announced international approvals for restoring archaeological sites and highlighted the recent handover of the restored Suakin Governorate heritage building from TIKA.
Additionally, Al-Eisir thanked the General Intelligence Service, the Defence Industries System, the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, the Sea Ports Corporation, and the Customs Police for their support of the media sector. He also appreciated journalists for their national spirit in backing the ministry’s plans.
During the launch ceremony, Abdullah Hegazi, the representative of the TSC Secretary-General, congratulated the teams on their achievement and affirmed the TSC Secretariat’s continued support for media efforts. The Red Sea Wali commended national television workers for their performance under exceptional circumstances and expressed pride in hosting Sudanese families affected by the war.
