Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed his commitment to building a Sudanese state of importance for the future. Addressing the conclusion of the consultations of national and societal political forces on Saturday, which focused on creating a roadmap for Sudanese dialogue and establishing peace and political consensus, General Al-Burhan paid tribute to the martyrs of Sudan, including those from the Battle of Dignity. He acknowledged the support of the Sudanese people for the armed forces during the war period, emphasizing that the actions of the armed forces were made possible by this support.
According to Sudan News Agency, General Al-Burhan praised the armed forces, other regular forces, joint forces, and mobilized forces from various categories for their crucial role in the steadfastness of the armed forces. He recognized the national and societal political forces that stood by and supported the armed forces in the Battle of Dignity. General Al-Burhan expressed appreciation for all those who supported the army through financial means, advocacy, and efforts, and emphasized the need to learn from the war to build a state different from the past.
General Al-Burhan highlighted the importance of the gathering of national political and societal forces in completing the transitional period, stating that these forces will be integral to achieving comprehensive victory throughout Sudan. He extended an open invitation to anyone willing to take a patriotic stance, welcoming those who abandon aggression and align with national interests.
He directed the competent authorities in passport services to ensure Sudanese citizens are not prevented from obtaining identification documents, emphasizing the right to free speech and criticism of the regime without undermining national principles. General Al-Burhan called for inclusive dialogue among all political and societal forces, indicating that the upcoming period will see the formation of a government to complete transitional tasks. This government, described as a caretaker or war government, aims to assist in cleansing Sudan of rebels and will consist of independent national competencies.
General Al-Burhan stressed that the National Congress must avoid political bidding and engage in future competition with other political forces if it seeks to govern. He confirmed his determination to build a Sudanese state with a future role, stating that a prime minister will be nominated to lead the executive organ of the state after the constitutional document’s approval, without interference.
He reiterated that there will be no negotiations with rebels unless they disarm and withdraw from civilian areas. General Al-Burhan rejected a proposed Ramadan ceasefire, citing the siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on El-Fashir, and insisted that any ceasefire must be accompanied by a withdrawal from Khartoum, West Kordofan, and Darfur, and the assembly of forces in designated centers.
