Al-Burhan Engages with EU Envoy Over Sudan Crisis.

Khartoum: The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, convened with the European Union Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Ms. Annette Weber, on Sunday. The meeting, attended by Sudan’s Ambassador to Brussels and Representative to the European Union, Ambassador Abdul-Bagi Kabir, addressed the ongoing crisis in Sudan and the atrocities committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Militia against civilians.

According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Abdul-Bagi communicated in a press statement that Gen. Al-Burhan emphasized the unwillingness of the Sudanese populace to tolerate the militia’s presence. He highlighted the importance of evacuating civilian properties and buildings in line with the Jeddah Declaration. Furthermore, he urged the European Union to leverage its influence to halt the war by cutting off political and logistical support to the militia, asserting that external backing perpetuates the conflict.

esenting the European Union, expressed her satisfaction with the dialogue, describing the exchange as candid and objective. She reiterated the European Union’s commitment to addressing the conflict in Sudan and advocated for the return of displaced Sudanese to their homes. She underscored the necessity of halting the war to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid, the resumption of education, and the restoration of healthcare services. Weber also highlighted the regional and international community’s roles in resolving the Sudanese crisis, emphasizing that ending the conflict is crucial for the normalization of life in Sudan.
