JUBA: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, held talks in Juba on Wednesday with President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, focusing on promoting and developing bilateral relations and advancing prospects for joint cooperation.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, stated in a press release that General Al-Burhan’s visit to Juba was part of ongoing consultations between the leaderships of the two nations. The visit also aimed to support President Salva Kiir and the South Sudanese government amid recent developments in the country. Al-Burhan briefed President Kiir on the situation in Sudan, particularly regarding the rebellion led by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the state and its institutions.
During the discussions, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces highlighted the progress made by the armed forces, regular forces, and joint forces across vari
ous operational areas. The visit also addressed cooperation in oil, trade, and border security, contributing to revitalizing bilateral relations.
From the South Sudanese perspective, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majak Filmon Majok, emphasized the strong relations between the two countries. He noted that the talks included discussions on oil sector cooperation, joint border security, and economic and trade cooperation. Majok expressed hope that the visit would strengthen cooperative relations between Sudan and South Sudan, benefiting both populations.
