Khartoum: The National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) announced the successful implementation of the first electronic tender for the procurement of medicines and medical consumables since the war, marking a clear indicator of the beginning of recovery and reconstruction. A total of 67 companies competed out of 99 that purchased the tender documents, reflecting a gradual return of confidence in the business environment and the private sector’s readiness to support the health system.
According to Sudan News Agency, during Thursday’s tender opening and evaluation session, Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim stated that the achievement represents a significant step on the path to recovery. He commended the cooperation of state institutions, the private sector, and pharmaceutical companies that helped sustain health services throughout the crisis.
For his part, NMSF Director-General Dr. Bad-Eddin Al-Juzouli noted that the tender was executed through the efforts of staff working under complex conditions. He described the step as reinforcing institutional functionality, supporting national pharmaceutical security, and strengthening transparency.
Tender Committee Chair Dr. Nawal Al-Tahir affirmed that the adoption of an electronic procurement system enhances efficiency, speed, and fairness, praising the participation of companies despite the severe challenges the war has imposed on the pharmaceuticals sector.
The NMSF reiterated its commitment to the highest standards of transparency and to providing a fair, competitive environment for all companies.
