Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, held a meeting with a delegation representing Christian denominations in Sudan. This meeting took place at his office, where discussions focused on the current national crisis and the role of the Christian community in supporting national efforts.
According to Sudan News Agency, Reverend Angelo Al-Zaki Angelo, President of the Omdurman-Karari Churches Union, emphasized the Sudanese churches' unwavering support for the Sudanese Armed Forces in their mission to quell the ongoing rebellion. He highlighted the critical need for international and regional cooperation in rebuilding the nation's infrastructure, which has suffered extensive damage due to the conflict.
Reverend Angelo noted that the meeting addressed significant issues affecting Christian churches nationwide. He reiterated the churches' strong condemnation of the destruction and vandalism perpetrated by the Al-Dagalo rebel militia, underscoring their resolve to oppose such acts.
In his statement, Reverend Angelo expressed a hopeful vision for Sudan's future, emphasizing aspirations for peace, coexistence, tolerance, reconstruction, development, and national unity following the conflict. He conveyed confidence in the eventual triumph of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the conclusion of what he referred to as the "cursed war."
Reverend Angelo also praised Sudan's enduring tradition of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, while expressing contentment that the government has resumed its operations from Khartoum, which he declared is now secure.
