Technical Education Deemed Essential for Sudan’s Development in Digital Era

Khartoum: Education Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar, highlighted the critical role of technical education in Sudan’s development amid the ongoing digital transformation. He emphasized that technical education serves as a foundation for the country’s progress.

According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Omar stressed that neglecting technical education would mean missing the opportunity to maximize the use of Sudan’s resources. He pointed out the need to alter societal views about technical education, urging parents and students, especially high achievers, to consider it as a viable path for investment of their potential.

Speaking on the “Nabd Al-Watan” television program, Dr. Omar addressed the challenges facing technical education, such as its negative societal image and the high costs tied to updating technology and equipment. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing training for educators to foster student innovation and creativity, as technical education requires engagement with modern technologies to meet market demands.

Dr. Omar called upon the private sector, businessmen, and international organizations to help establish world-class technical schools with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, aiming to attract and skill students. He commended the collaboration with UNESCO in Sudan, noting its valuable contribution to the country’s transitional education plan, including technical education development.

The Undersecretary also emphasized the need to enhance skills in agriculture, industry, and fishing sectors to achieve economic efficiency and environmental sustainability, ensuring the effective and sustainable use of resources.
