SUNA Interviews Head of Chinese Diplomatic Mission in Sudan on Bilateral Relations.

Portsudan: The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) conducted an interview with His Excellency, the Head of the Chinese Diplomatic Mission in Sudan, focusing on the strategic importance and historical dimension of Sudan-China relations. The interview covered current issues and future visions to enhance bilateral relations, emphasizing the mutual benefit for the peoples and governments of both countries.

According to Sudan News Agency, the interview highlighted the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Sudan, marking significant progress in various fields since their establishment. The Chinese Diplomatic Mission Head expressed satisfaction with the current state of relations and a commitment to elevate them further.

Strategic cooperation between the two countries was established in 2015, with a memorandum of understanding signed in 2017 for participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. The China-Africa Cooperation Forum in Beijing was attended by Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council President,
further consolidating bilateral relations through joint understandings aimed at elevating relations to higher levels.

Following recent diplomatic engagements, a Higher Committee and a technical committee have been formed to implement summit outcomes, focusing on infrastructure and basic services projects. The Chinese side is actively collaborating with Sudan to ensure step-by-step implementation of these initiatives.

The issue of Chinese debts on Sudan continues to be addressed through a bilateral mechanism, a joint committee for technical action, ensuring that debts do not impede economic and trade cooperation. China and Sudan remain strategic partners, exchanging support in regional and international forums.

The interview also touched on overcoming recent impediments and China’s readiness to assist in rebuilding efforts post-conflict. Chinese companies remain committed to participating in Sudan’s economic development, contingent on the return of stability.

Regarding infrastructure projects like the (Al-Geneina-Adri) railway line, discussions are ongoing to determine implementation priorities. Sudan’s geographical significance is recognized, with consultations continuing to optimize regional connectivity.

Finally, despite challenges posed by economic sanctions, China remains a steadfast friend, supporting Sudan’s resilience
