Summer Agricultural Season Preparations Reviewed Amid Sabotage Concerns

Khartoum: Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Issmat Gurashi recently chaired a pivotal meeting with key officials, including Ministry Undersecretary Engineer Daw Al-Bait Mansour and Director General of the General Authority for Irrigation and Excavation Works Engineer Al-Nour Suleiman Al-Mahi. The meeting focused on the comprehensive review of preparations for the upcoming summer agricultural season.

According to Sudan News Agency, significant damage to the authority's fleet due to militia sabotage was a primary concern as the meeting assessed the readiness of machinery, excavators, and dredgers intended for canal clearance. Ensuring the availability of fuel supplies and necessary inputs for all irrigated projects was also a major topic, alongside discussions on an emergency intervention plan to maintain efficient operations.

The meeting further highlighted the pressing needs of the Tokar project to protect the city from flooding and seasonal torrents. Participants emphasized the urgency of implementing measures to safeguard both lives and property in the region. This gathering is part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to enhance water resource management and improve the effectiveness of agricultural projects across the nation.
