Al-Burhan Briefs UN Envoy on Sudan’s Situation


Khartoum: The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, briefed the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Horn of Africa on the overall developments in Sudan.



According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting took place at Al-Burhan’s office with the UN Special Envoy, Kuang Kong, and was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim. Al-Burhan emphasized the Sudanese Government’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations to ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.



In a press statement, the UN Envoy described his meeting with the TSC President as productive and constructive. He highlighted his previous experience working in Sudan in the Blue Nile region and Abyei, expressing regret over the current state of affairs. He noted the extensive destruction inflicted on vital facilities and state institutions due to the war.



The discussions also focused on the importance of reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis, and the need to halt the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia across various parts of Sudan. Kuang Kong affirmed the United Nations’ support and readiness to contribute to a resolution, urging all parties to engage in genuine consultations leading to a final settlement, in coordination with neighboring countries.
