Berlin: Sudanese Ambassador to Germany, Elham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, met on Thursday with the Executive Director of German M©decins Sans Fronti¨res (MSF), Christian Katzer, accompanied by the organization’s delegation. The meeting included Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Idris Mohamed Ali, First Secretary Sami Al-Haj Mohamed, and the embassy’s Consul.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussion focused on the humanitarian crisis in El-Fashir amid ongoing widespread violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against unarmed civilians, including racially motivated killings, mass rapes, and massacres documented by the perpetrators themselves and international research bodies. The Ambassador highlighted the city’s more than 18-month siege, the militia’s obstruction of aid delivery, and the displacement of residents to towns like Al-Dabbah in the Northern State, where local communities and authorities provide basic support.
Mr. Katzer confirmed that German MSF shares deep concern over the situation and continues its efforts to reach trapped civilians. He outlined active programs across several states, praised local community initiatives, and pledged medical services for displaced populations in Al-Dabba. He also emphasized MSF’s work to raise awareness of the crisis in El-Fashir among German authorities and the Bundestag.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to strengthen cooperation between the embassy and MSF to facilitate humanitarian access, improve funding and support for local organizations, and ensure aid reaches the most affected populations in Sudan.
Founded in 1971, M©decins Sans Fronti¨res operates 26 branches providing emergency medical support in over 70 countries. The German branch, one of its largest, was established in 1993.
