Khartoum: Sudanese architect, Dr. Yassin Mohamed Ibrahim Idris, won the Grand Prize of the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) for 2026, in recognition of his contributions to environmentally sustainable, carbon-neutral building design.
According to Sudan News Agency, Sudan's Ambassador to Japan, Al-Rayah Haidoub, honored Dr. Yassin and praised Sudanese excellence abroad. The ambassador highlighted the importance of diaspora contributions to the reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
Dr. Yassin expressed his readiness to support Sudan's rebuilding initiatives. He emphasized the potential to strengthen bilateral ties between Sudan and Japan through people-to-people diplomacy.
