Sudanese Ambassador and Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Discuss Bilateral Relations

Sudan: Sudan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anas Al-Tayib Al-Gailani, met on Monday with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova. The meeting focused on strengthening the relations between Sudan and Azerbaijan.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly welcomed the ambassador and affirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between the two nations. She emphasized Azerbaijan's keen interest in developing ties across a range of fields and praised Sudan for its supportive positions in regional and international forums. The Speaker also highlighted the advanced level of bilateral relations between Baku and Khartoum and expressed her readiness to enhance cooperation with Sudan. She noted Azerbaijan's active role in various international parliamentary platforms and mentioned its candidacy for the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Speaker for her support in international parliamentary activities. He reaffirmed Sudan's commitment to advancing bilateral relations in different sectors. During the meeting, he provided an update on developments in Sudan, highlighting the progress achieved by the Armed Forces and discussing ongoing agreements between the two countries that are being finalized for signing.

Additionally, the ambassador mentioned the first session of the political consultation mechanism between Sudan and Azerbaijan that took place earlier this year. He also spoke about the upcoming visit of a technical committee for cooperation to Baku, which aims to explore ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with both parties emphasizing the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and increased mutual visits to strengthen their partnership and further advance bilateral relations.
