Khartoum: Sudan has welcomed the entry of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza into force, hoping that this will put an end to the tragedy witnessed in the Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. In a statement issued on Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sudan praised the strenuous efforts made by the mediators; Qatar, Egypt, and the United States of America to reach this positive upshot.
According to Sudan News Agency, the statement reiterated Sudan’s belief that lasting peace and stability in the region can only be achieved by the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate and just rights. This includes their right to establish a state with Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the 1967 borders, acknowledging the great sacrifices made for this purpose.
The statement further called on all countries and peoples to support these rights based on the principles of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy. Sudan emphasized the need for the international community to urgently provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza and contribute effectively to its reconstruction following the comprehensive devastation experienced during the war.
In addition, Sudan appealed to all Palestinian factions to prioritize national unity during this critical phase of the Palestinian people’s struggle, underscoring the importance of solidarity for achieving long-term peace and stability in the region.
