Khartoum: Sudan has officially regained its membership in the International Paralympic Committee, as announced by Minister of Youth and Sports Professor Ahmed Adam. This strategic development marks a significant step forward, enabling athletes with disabilities from Sudan to participate in international forums.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minister Adam expressed his satisfaction with this achievement, which was brought to fruition through coordinated efforts and the ambitious aspiration of securing international medals. The announcement was made during a meeting held on Monday that included the Director-General of Sports, the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Bodies, and heads and representatives of specialized federations for persons with disabilities. The meeting's agenda focused on formulating an urgent plan to revive Paralympic sports activities and enhance both regional and international participation, aligning with global systems and regulations.
The discussions underscored the necessity of integrating efforts between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and specialized federations to boost both technical and administrative performance. The federations, in turn, pledged their full support for the creation of a unified coordinating body. This body will be tasked with organizing activities and addressing the challenges that have hindered sportspersons in recent years, ensuring Sudan's robust reentry onto the international sports stage for persons with disabilities.
