Khartoum: Sudan has reaffirmed its stance that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is unfit to host the 15th United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and Criminal Justice in April 2026. This position comes in light of the UAE’s involvement in fuelling the conflict in Sudan, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians and prolonged the suffering of the Sudanese people, through military, intelligence, logistical, and diplomatic support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, as documented by numerous investigative and media reports worldwide.
According to Sudan News Agency, the statement was delivered by Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Magdi Ahmed Mufaddal, during the resumed 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held on Friday, December 5, 2025.
The statement also highlighted some of the atrocities, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed by the rebels, including targeted killings based on identity, systematic starvation, obstruction of humanitarian aid, rape, attacks on hospitals and water and electricity facilities, indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, and the mass slaughter of thousands of unarmed civilians in El-Fashir-so extensive that satellite imagery has reportedly captured bodies and bloodstains from space, according to the Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale University. Satellite images also documented the rebels burning victims’ corpses to conceal their heinous crimes.
The statement stressed that the inaction of certain actors within the international community regarding the regional sponsor of the rebellion’s role in fuelling the conflict contributes to the continued massacres of unarmed civilians and the ongoing suffering of the Sudanese people.
