Khartoum: The Government of Sudan has urged the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in addressing the threats posed by the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia. The government is pressing for the enforcement of Resolution 2736 (2024), which calls for the immediate lifting of the militia’s siege on El-Fashir and the cessation of its attacks.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Sudanese Government has also appealed to international and regional actors to take decisive actions to stop the flow of weapons and mercenaries to the militia. Furthermore, the government is calling for accountability for the militia’s leaders and members for the atrocities committed and is seeking support for its efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians in El-Fashir and other areas affected by the militia’s occupation.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation highlighted a recent massacre on October 11, 2025, at the Dar Al-Arqam shelter in El-Fashir, where 57 civilians, including 17 children, 22 women, and 18 elderly people, were killed. The ministry emphasized that this massacre is part of a broader campaign of violence against displaced persons and civilians, which has been ongoing since the genocides in El-Geneina and Ardmeta in June 2023, and continued through various regions including the villages of Al-Gezira State, and the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps.
The Sudanese Government’s statement underscores the continued international negligence in addressing the systemic acts of genocide perpetrated by the Al-Dagalo militia. It is calling on the global community to take meaningful steps to prevent further violence and support Sudan’s efforts to protect its civilians.
