Geneva: Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa, met with Libya’s Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, Emad Al-Tarablusi, on the sidelines of the African Ministerial Roundtable on Migration held in Geneva.
According to Sudan News Agency, the two ministers explored opportunities for bilateral cooperation and coordination to address refugee and migration issues. Both Sudan and Libya are key countries of origin and transit for irregular migration in the region, making the discussion particularly pertinent.
The meeting also addressed the situation of Sudanese migrants in Libya, focusing on the steps necessary to complete voluntary repatriation operations. These efforts are being coordinated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to ensure that repatriation processes are conducted safely and orderly, with an emphasis on protecting the most vulnerable groups.
Both ministers expressed their commitment to enhancing joint efforts and developing coordination mechanisms between their countries. This collaboration aims to address humanitarian and security challenges related to migration, contributing to regional security and stability.
