Port sudan: The Ministry of Health, through its General Administration for Emergencies and Epidemic Control, organized a specialized training course focused on spatial data collection using geographic information systems (GIS). The course, conducted by the GIS Department of the Disease Surveillance Administration, took place from December 10 to 14, 2025, at Al-Rabwa Hall in Port Sudan. It targeted employees from various state ministries.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Afraa Abdel Rahman, an information systems specialist and representative of the General Administration for Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, noted the participation of representatives from five states: the Red Sea, Kassala, Al Qadarif, White Nile, and the Blue Nile region. Participants also came from four different ministries, including Health, the Survey Authority, Agriculture and Irrigation, and the Statistical Center.
The course aimed to enhance participants' capabilities in geographic information systems and spatial data collection. This training is expected to accelerate decision-making, improve emergency response and epidemic control, and enhance cooperation between different government agencies. The initiative supports public health programs through the exchange of data and information.
