Kadugli: South Kordofan State Minister of Education and Guidance, Fatima Gamar Ismail, inspected the extent of damage and losses sustained by the tangible and intangible folk cultural heritage exhibition held at the residence of Madam Haram Ibrahim Jaamie, following a drone strike. The visit took place in the presence of the Director of the Culture, Information, Youth and Sports Sector, Mohammed Hussein Kabbashi, along with officials from the culture and youth and sports administrations.
According to Sudan News Agency, in a press statement after the visit, the minister said the attack represents a systematic targeting of South Kordofan's cultural heritage, underscoring that the exhibition reflects the diversity of ethnic groups and cultures in the state and has the capacity to compete at local, national, and international levels. She added that the incident calls for serious planning to preserve heritage assets in safe locations, affirming the ministry's ability, through the culture and information sector, to redevelop the exhibition to a higher standard than before and convert it into a permanent showcase. She stressed that such acts would only strengthen resolve and unity.
For his part, Mohammed Hussein Kabbashi said the purpose of the visit was to assess the damage and check on those injured in repeated attacks targeting civilians' homes, as well as to inspect the impact on what he described as one of the state's most important cultural landmarks. He said the exhibition represents a major cultural tableau for South Kordofan and a symbol of the state's identity, affirming the ministry's determination to restore it stronger than before. He added that preserving, documenting, and developing cultural heritage is a core priority of the Culture and Information Sector.
