Omdurman: The President of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Dr. Abdulrahman Bilal Baleed, praised the efforts of the General Secretariat and its staff, noting that the presence of the society in the heart of Omdurman is a message confirming that the Sudanese Red Crescent Society will always remain at the forefront of serving citizens. He stressed the need to exert maximum effort to provide all necessary support to ensure sustainability and expansion of humanitarian work.
According to Sudan News Agency, this came during his inspection visit to the General Secretariat headquarters in Omdurman on Wednesday to follow up on work progress, humanitarian conditions, and efforts made by the society under the current circumstances in the country, as well as final field preparations for the celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day scheduled for 8 May 2026.
The President reviewed a package of upcoming activities in the state, announcing that a significant part of the celebration will be dedicated to honoring the families of martyrs among volunteers, in a strong message of loyalty recognizing the heroic role played by society volunteers on the frontlines of humanitarian crises.
The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Ahmed Al-Tayib Suleiman, described the visit as a strong moral boost for all humanitarian workers, praising the humanitarian spirit demonstrated by Omdurman staff to ensure continued service delivery to those affected.
