Port sudan: The Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, has made a significant appeal to religious and societal groups, especially the Sudanese Council of Churches, to actively engage in efforts to combat hate speech, enhance community awareness, and fortify the bonds among the nation’s diverse components. He underscored the urgency of unifying internal ranks as a primary objective for the government in the upcoming period.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Prime Minister held discussions with a delegation from the Sudanese Council of Churches, led by Rev. Ezz El-Din El-Tayib, the Chairman of the Council, at his office in Port Sudan. The dialogue focused on establishing a conducive environment for national recovery and fostering values of tolerance. Rev. Ezz El-Din, in his remarks following the meeting, reiterated the Council’s support for the armed forces and expressed optimism that the Armed Forces would achieve victory. He also conveyed confidence in the Prime Minister’s capacity to steer the country forward during the transitional phase.
The Council’s delegation, which includes representatives from Catholic, Evangelical, and Pentecostal churches, highlighted the discussion of issues pertinent to Christians in the country. Rev. Ezz El-Din emphasized the Council’s dedication to promoting peace, tolerance, and coexistence among different communities while stressing the importance of social cohesion and justice as essential needs for all citizens.
