Prime Minister Highlights Armed Forces’ Role in Defending Sudan’s Sovereignty

Sudan: Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris, speaking at the Munich Security Conference during a panel on Sudan, emphasized that the ongoing war in Sudan is being perpetrated by militias and foreign mercenaries who are receiving substantial external support. He highlighted that this conflict has severely impacted civilians, resulting in casualties, abuse, rape, and the destruction of infrastructure and national institutions.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Prime Minister praised the Armed Forces for their bravery and dedication in confronting this grave threat. He emphasized that the Armed Forces are fulfilling their constitutional and national duties by defending the country's sovereignty and ensuring the security of its citizens. He noted that the Armed Forces have achieved significant victories and have reclaimed extensive areas within the country.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of the Sudan Peace Initiative, describing it as a reflection of Sudanese consensus and national will. He expressed his belief that this comprehensive proposal has the potential to bring about peace and stability, ultimately concluding the war.
