Entebbe: Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Friday received Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Malik Agar at the State House in Entebbe, in the presence of Sudan's Ambassador to Uganda Ahmed Ibrahim Jarda, along with the embassy's military attaché and technical and diplomatic advisers. The meeting reviewed avenues to strengthen bilateral relations between Sudan and Uganda, as well as ongoing efforts to achieve peace and bring the war in Sudan to an end. According to Sudan News Agency, both sides also discussed mechanisms for restoring Sudan's membership in the African Union. President Museveni pledged to engage with member states of the African Peace and Security Council in support of that objective. TSC Vice President Agar called on President Museveni to leverage his regional ties to communicate with parties supporting the rebel militia and urge them to halt such support. President Museveni directed the head of Uganda's intelligence service to coordinate with the Sudanese embass y to accelerate procedures for recovering plundered Sudanese vehicles located in Uganda. In a separate meeting in Kampala, the TSC Vice President met with members of the Higher Committee for Voluntary Return and received a detailed briefing on the conditions of Sudanese nationals in Uganda and the voluntary return project. Malik Agar affirmed that he would respond to the committee's requests and facilitate the return of citizens in coordination with the Sudanese embassy and the Sudanese community.
