Munich: Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris met with Mr. Jared Cohen, Global Head of Goldman Sachs and Co-Chair of the Goldman Sachs Global Institute, on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference. The discussions centered on the current challenges and opportunities facing Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Prime Minister provided a detailed account of the situation in Sudan, describing the existential war imposed on the country and highlighting the ongoing violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilians. He called for the international community to condemn these violations and to consider classifying the RSF as a terrorist organization.
The Prime Minister also discussed the continuous successes of the Armed Forces and supporting groups in combating the rebellion. The meeting further explored Sudan's Peace Initiative, which has gained significant acceptance at regional and international levels, and deliberated on ways to support its implementation. Participants emphasized the crucial role of backing Sudan in international forums, especially in the United States.
Additionally, the Prime Minister outlined the economic opportunities and resources available in Sudan, expressing the government's openness to welcoming investment from Arab, regional, and international sources.
As the meeting concluded, Professor Kamil Idris reiterated the importance of the peace initiative, announcing that 2026 has been designated as the 'Year of Peace.' He also welcomed Mr. Cohen's potential visit to Sudan in coordination with UN agencies focused on humanitarian assistance.
