Khartoum: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris welcomed United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Sudan, Mr. Sheldon Yett, at his office on Tuesday.
According to Sudan News Agency, Sheldon Yett expressed the United Nations’ appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between UNICEF and the Government of Sudan, highlighting the broad range of activities undertaken by UNICEF in the region.
In a press statement, Yett mentioned that the meeting focused on enhancing children’s rights and improving sectors such as health, education, water, and child protection. They also discussed program development through joint projects with Sudanese institutions, requesting further support for children’s activities and aid distribution across Sudan.
Yett noted that the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fortifying the partnership between the Sudanese government and UNICEF. He praised UNICEF’s crucial role in supporting children in Sudan and stressed the need for continued backing of UNICEF programs to
ensure a brighter future for children and foster sustainable development.
