Riyadh: President Ahmad al-Sharaa has announced that Syria has attracted investments worth $28 billion within the first six months of the year. During a plenary session dialogue at the 9th edition of the Future Investment Initiative Conference 2025 in Riyadh, President al-Sharaa underscored the importance of Saudi Arabia’s role in the region, citing the country’s new vision led by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman as a focal point for regional economists.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, President al-Sharaa emphasized the interconnectedness of the regional economy with security and stability, highlighting Syria’s role as a fundamental pillar in maintaining regional equilibrium. He noted that his administration’s first external visit was to Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the pivotal and leading role the nation plays in fostering prosperity, stability, and development in Syria.
President al-Sharaa reflected on Syria’s past instability and its impact on the region, mentioning the challenges posed by narcotics and the strategic risks these issues have brought. He pointed out the historical significance of Syria as a gateway to the East and a key component of the Silk Road, emphasizing the country’s diverse resources and multifaceted economy.
Emphasizing recent developments, al-Sharaa stated that Syria is open to the world and has begun to reclaim its position on both regional and global stages, with significant support from countries like Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the amendment of Syria’s investment laws, which have been instrumental in attracting substantial investments.
The President detailed ongoing partnerships with several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Turkey, as well as investment projects involving Bahrain and Jordan, and participation from American companies. He expressed a commitment to rebuilding Syria through investment rather than aid, placing his confidence in the resilience of the Syrian people.
President al-Sharaa asserted that Syria is set to achieve balanced economic rankings and aims to become one of the world’s leading economies in the coming years. He reiterated his dedication to seeing Syria rise again, calling for integration with other countries to create a unified economy for the future.
