Port sudan: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, received today President of Eritrea, Isaias Afwerki, at Gasr Al-Sharg in the city of Port Sudan. The Eritrean President was accorded an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at the palace.
According to Sudan News Agency, TSC President held a session of talks with President Afwerki at Gasr Al-Sharg, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and to activate cooperation across various sectors, including security, economic, and trade relations.
The two leaders also reviewed the current situation in Sudan under the present circumstances, exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest, and discussed ways to contribute to achieving stability and peace in the region.
Both sides affirmed their firm determination to elevate bilateral relations to advanced levels and to steer them toward broader horizons of strategic partnership that meet the aspirations of the peoples of both countries. They underscored the depth of historical ties and expressed their commitment to coordinating efforts to achieve regional stability and development.
TSC President expressed his deep appreciation for the level of bilateral relations between the two countries, describing them as strategic, and affirmed Sudan’s keenness to strengthen and advance them further.
Al-Burhan commended the Eritrean government’s supportive stance toward Sudan, its commitment to Sudan’s unity, stability, and sovereignty, and its efforts to achieve security and peace in the country. He also highlighted Eritrea’s hosting of Sudanese displaced persons (IDPs), stating that this reflects the strong brotherly bonds between the two nations.
TSC President renewed the government’s determination to continue and enhance joint cooperation across all fields in a manner that serves the interests of the peoples of both countries, expressing his aspiration for further cooperation and regional stability. He extended his thanks and appreciation to President Afwerki for his visit to Sudan.
For his part, President Afwerki affirmed his country’s position in support of Sudan’s unity, stability, and preservation of its sovereign achievements. He noted the long-standing relations between the two peoples and stressed his rejection of any external interference.
President Afwerki emphasized the importance of regional cooperation to address core issues, stating, ‘The stability of Sudan is a condition for the stability of the region,’ and renewed his country’s commitment to consolidating brotherly ties and joint cooperation with Sudan to serve the interests of the peoples of both countries.
