Khartoum: Major General Nour Ahmed Adam 'Goba,' who recently defected from the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, announced that his return to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) was a voluntary decision, motivated by genuine conviction. He emphasized that his move, accompanied by a large force, would significantly bolster the SAF, supporting forces, and the Sudanese populace.
According to Sudan News Agency, during a press conference in Khartoum on Wednesday, Goba revealed that his departure from the RSF was prompted by the realization that the militia lacked a legitimate cause. He pointed out the marginalization and disregard for dissenting voices within the militia, stating that, 'We were not consulted before entering this war.'
Goba further explained that the RSF leadership, before the conflict began, showed a preference for the Forces of Freedom and Change - Central Council, while neglecting its military leaders. This, he asserted, was a factor in the war's onset. He accused the militia of instigating the conflict by launching a surprise attack on the unprepared Armed Forces, beginning operations in Merowe and mobilizing forces from Darfur, as well as recruiting mercenaries and tribal leaders to rally against the state.
