Port sudan: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, engaged in discussions with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at his office in Port Sudan. The ICRC delegation was led by Hussein Ibrahim, Deputy Coordinator for Economic Security Operations. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Muna Osman, Director General of the Directorate of Seeds, and Eng. Babiker Hassan Adam, Director of Organizations Directorate.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Al-Bushra expressed his appreciation for the ICRC’s activities in Sudan, especially during the war. He emphasized the importance of including persons with disabilities in ICRC programs and highlighted the need for providing them with improved seeds to aid in food production. Al-Bushra noted that organizations play a crucial role in development, and mentioned that seed distribution is carried out through the Seeds Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation.

ahim, on behalf of the ICRC, explained that the visit aimed to understand the strategies of post-war operations and to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. He mentioned the ICRC’s efforts in producing local seeds in the greater Darfur states, distributing food in insecure regions, and supporting areas impacted by the war.
Additionally, Hussein Ibrahim shared that the ICRC has lost all its facilities and operational mechanisms, and he called for enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the ICRC to overcome these challenges.
