Khartoum: Minister of Minerals Nour Al-Daem Taha has outlined ongoing initiatives with the Geological Research Authority aimed at broadening international collaborations within the mineral resources sector.
According to Sudan News Agency, Taha highlighted existing partnerships with nations such as China and Turkey, emphasizing that these collaborations are with countries possessing advanced mining capabilities. He mentioned that memoranda of understanding are set to be signed mid-year, as part of the ministry's strategy to enhance research and training through international cooperation.
The announcement was made during Taha's speech at the inaugural forum of the Geological Research Authority's state offices in Khartoum. He underscored the forum's significance, noting its role in the lead-up to the launch of a comprehensive geological survey project, which is expected to bolster coordination among various institutions.
Taha reiterated that the comprehensive geological survey is a top priority for the ministry due to its critical importance. He highlighted that the Geological Research Authority is central to the ministry's projects and assured that both the state and the ministry are committed to supporting the authority and its initiatives.
He further noted the authority's historic role in supporting the national economy by identifying and updating geological maps of Sudan's mineral resources. Taha affirmed the ministry's dedication to continually addressing the authority's needs and improving its operations and workforce.
