Khartoum: Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Dirif stated that the Committee to Prevent Illegal Money Collection, established under Cabinet Resolution No. 154 of 2025, has finalized its administrative and operational preparations and commenced the execution of its mandate.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dirif, who leads the committee, indicated that it comprises all pertinent authorities. The committee is tasked with assessing the legality of government-imposed fees on goods and services, resolving legislative overlaps between federal and state jurisdictions, eliminating unauthorized collection points on national highways, combating tax evasion and corruption, and preventing off-budget collections nationwide.
The committee is set to initiate field visits to various states starting February 1, with the eastern sector, which includes the Red Sea, Kassala, and Al-Gadarif states, followed by the northern sector encompassing River Nile and Northern states, before extending to other regions.
Dirif emphasized that electronic collection enhances transparency, aids in reducing corruption, protects public funds, and secures citizens' rights. He also highlighted that this approach is in line with the country's digital transformation policy.
