Khartoum: The Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, has praised the significant contribution of the electronic media during the "War of Dignity." He affirmed that the rights of journalists and their national efforts are fully recognized. Representing the Government of Hope, he expressed gratitude to all patriotic journalists who have supported the Sudanese state.
According to Sudan News Agency, this commendation was made during a meeting attended by several electronic website owners and news platforms. The meeting also included the Ministry's Undersecretary, Ms. Sumaya El-Hadi, and Omar Ahmed Taifour, the Director of the General Directorate of the Press at the National Council for Press and Publications and Acting Secretary-General.
Discussions at the meeting focused on the operations of electronic websites. The Minister noted that the Ministry's role is to complement the work of the press, while the National Council for Press is tasked with regulating journalistic work and safeguarding journalists' rights. The importance of dialogue between journalists, website owners, and the Ministry was emphasized to ensure that journalistic and media activities are organized in accordance with established standards.
Al-Eisir reiterated the government's appreciation for the patriotic stance taken by journalists in countering rumors and disinformation. He emphasized that journalists are crucial partners with the Ministry in drafting media management plans. He clarified that the registration of journalistic websites is a routine, cost-free procedure aimed at protecting websites against cyber threats while reaffirming the state's support for patriotic journalists' efforts.
The meeting also addressed the organization of workshops to discuss the press act and the economics of the profession, alongside dedicating a day to honor the martyrs of the press.
