Khartoum: Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi met in Khartoum with the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Pekka Haavisto, to discuss the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ways to deliver examinations to Darfur students living as refugees in Chad. According to Sudan News Agency, the governor stated in a Facebook post that the meeting focused on the current humanitarian situation in Darfur. Discussions were held on methods to facilitate the return of displaced citizens to their homes by addressing the underlying causes of displacement. Additionally, efforts to secure the release of civilians who have been abducted were part of the agenda. The meeting also explored mechanisms for ensuring that students from Darfur, currently residing in Chad, have access to their educational examinations. These discussions are aimed at addressing the educational needs of refugee students and ensuring the continuation of their academic progress despite their displacement.
