Khartoum: As part of his ongoing follow-up on digital transformation initiatives in the higher education and scientific research sector, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ahmed Madawi Musa, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the ministry, conducted an inspection visit Sunday to the headquarters of the Sudan Education and Research Network (SUDERN) – Eastern Sector. The sector operates within the General Directorate of Information and Communication Technology at Red Sea University.
According to Sudan News Agency, the delegation was received by Executive Director of SUDERN Engineer Dr. Babiker Hussein Ahmed, along with a team of staff from the sector.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed progress in preparing the working environment and followed up on the stages of completing the technical systems and equipment for the Eastern Sector’s data center. He also assessed the advancement of infrastructure provisioning needed to expand the network and enhance its technical and operational readiness.
Meanwhile, the SUDERN Executive Director explained that SUDERN’s strategic plan aims to modernize its infrastructure to ensure sustainability and security by distributing service centers across various states. This approach will enable the network to provide services to all higher education and scientific research institutions, as well as university hospitals throughout the country, contributing to improved service quality and wider coverage.
