Khartoum: Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim received a detailed briefing on Soba Teaching Hospital, affiliated with the University of Khartoum, including its needs and rehabilitation requirements. He congratulated the hospital administration on the commencement of the first phase of operations, as well as the resumption of the Mycetoma Center.According to Sudan News Agency, during a meeting held at his office at the Ministry, the Minister, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Khartoum Professor Imad Al-Din Al-Tahir Aradaib, and a hospital delegation led by Deputy Director Dr. Mustafa Al-Noor discussed the necessary support required to restore the hospital to its former status. The Minister emphasized the importance of following up on projects with donors and securing essential equipment, medical devices, and ambulances, which were affected during the war. He noted the potential for support from entities such as the King Salman Center and the State of Qatar, in addition to national progr ams.Professor Imad Al-Din Al-Tahir Aradaib highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the University and the Health Ministry. He stated that the meeting aimed to update the Minister on operations at Soba Hospital and the Mycetoma Center, despite the significant destruction affecting the University and its hospitals. He also confirmed the resumption of academic studies.Deputy Director Dr. Mustafa Al-Noor announced that the hospital would officially reopen on May 1, with partial operations having been conducted over the past six months in various divisions. He indicated that the first childbirth procedure is scheduled for April 19 and emphasized the urgent need for equipment and supplies to mitigate shortages caused by the war, alongside preparations to resume specialized services such as gastrointestinal surgery, neurosurgery, endoscopy, nephrology, and microsurgery.
