Khartoum: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Abdullah Ibrahim reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to mobilizing resources and prioritizing spending, especially to meet the needs of the Battle of Dignity and support war efforts.According to Sudan News Agency, Ibrahim emphasized lessons learned from the war, focusing on self-reliance and emergency budgeting to safeguard Sudan's economy. The ministry has successfully relocated from Port Sudan to Khartoum, ensuring secure network connectivity to maintain financial and economic operations.Addressing ministry staff, Ibrahim issued a series of performance-enhancing measures, including enforcing civil service laws, strengthening administrative controls, developing staff capacities, and forming an evaluation committee to facilitate staff rotation.He announced the drafting of a new Public Finance Act to establish a framework for public finance management, covering responsibilities, budgeting, accounting, and internal auditing. This is described as unprece dented for the ministry, which has been operating under the 1977 Financial Procedures Law, last amended in 2011.Ibrahim also highlighted increases in revenue under the new electronic collection and payment system, 'Esali', and praised the African Development Bank for acknowledging Sudan's self-reliant development of the system. He commended the ministry's IT Department and Tax Chamber for implementing online invoicing, which boosts public revenues, and called for continued efforts to advance financial and economic performance through a unified treasury system.
