Khartoum: The Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, has affirmed his deep belief that the spirit of national solidarity is the only way to lift the siege on the citizens of Darfur and Kordofan. It is also seen as the path to dismantle the so-called “Janjaweed State” scheme pursued by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and their allies.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minawi shared in a Facebook post that a significant meeting was held, involving members of the native administration, coordination committees, and parties to the peace process, along with representatives from Darfuri associations and Sudanese politicians. The meeting focused on urgent cooperation and coordination to aid the people of El-Fashir, who are enduring severe humanitarian challenges.
Minawi highlighted that the meeting gathered valuable opinions and proposals on restoring the state’s authority and ensuring security and stability. He emphasized the importance of unifying national efforts and intensifying field actions to free the Kordofan and Darfur regions from the control of the Al-Dagalo militia.
He reiterated his belief that national solidarity is the sole avenue to lift the siege on the people and thwart the RSF militia’s ambitions to establish the ‘Janjaweed state.’ Acknowledging the critical nature of the current situation, Minawi stressed that despite the necessity for immediate action, meetings remain essential to unify ranks and establish a clear strategy towards the desired objectives. He concluded by praying for the protection and restoration of security and stability across Sudan.
