Khartoum: A handover ceremony was held at the office of the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation in Port Sudan on Sunday morning between the former Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, and the new Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Prof. Dr. Ismat Qarashi Abdullah, in the presence of Directors of various Directorates within the ministry.
According to Sudan News Agency, following the handover session, Minister Ismat expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the various units of the ministry. Ismat emphasized that former Minister Al-Bushra had delivered an exceptional agricultural season that overcame the obstacles of war, affirming his determination to continue working and improving performance to achieve the desired goals.
He stated that his top priorities for the next phase are to make agriculture the locomotive of the Sudanese economy, to revitalize all stalled projects, and to focus on small farmers, indigenizing seeds, agricultural research, forestry, and irrigation.
For his part, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, the Former Minister and Acting Undersecretary of Agriculture, expressed his support for the minister and stood with him to secure food for the people of Sudan. It is worth noting that Minister Ismat Qureshi assumed his duties after the Former Minister, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, following the merging of the two Ministries of Agriculture and Irrigation.
