El-obeid: The General Intelligence Service in North Kordofan State held a reception ceremony for a large group returning to the homeland after surrendering from the ranks of the rebel militia.
According to Sudan News Agency, the event was attended by North Kordofan Wali Abdel-Khalig Abdel-Latif Wadaallah, the State Police Director, the State Director of the General Intelligence Service, senior intelligence officials, other government representatives, and native administration leaders.
Representatives of the native administration stated that the group's return was the result of extensive efforts and sustained communication conducted by community leaders with the fighters. They said responding to the call of the nation and rejoining the national ranks marks an important step toward restoring security and stability, particularly in the southern parts of the state.
For his part, returning group commander Makki Al-Tijani said their decision to return was made out of full conviction and sincere response to the call of the homeland. He praised the welcome they received from all authorities, describing the move as a new beginning toward joint national action. He affirmed their full readiness to stand with the country and fight alongside the armed forces and supporting groups and individuals.
Al-Tijani added that the so-called 'Ta'asis Government' has no real presence on the ground, calling it merely a label that does not reflect citizens' aspirations. He said their return followed what they described as injustice and misinformation by that group, which prompted them to reassess their position and realign with the nation.
In his address at the ceremony, the North Kordofan Wali commended the returnees' national spirit and welcomed their response to what he described as the voice of reason and patriotism. He called on those still fighting with the rebel militia to follow the same course and return home.
He said the nation has room for everyone and that the current stage demands unity of national ranks and concerted efforts to achieve security, stability, and the reconstruction of Sudan. He further accused the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia of promoting hate speech and attempting to fracture the country's social fabric.
The Wali praised the significant role played by the native administration in facilitating the returns and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the General Intelligence Service and other security bodies in strengthening security and stability across the state. He reaffirmed the state government's backing for the armed forces and security services in the Battle of Dignity.
