Khartoum: Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza met with the Swiss Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Sylvain Astier, during his visit to Khartoum. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the State Government, Al-Hadi Abdel-Seed, and the Acting Minister and Director-General of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, Al-Tayib Saad-Eddin.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Swiss envoy stated that his visit is part of consultations with federal and state-level officials. Additionally, the visit aimed to review the situation of the Swiss embassy and the ambassador's residence, in line with the Prime Minister's call for diplomatic missions to return to their premises in the capital.
The Khartoum State Wali briefed the envoy on the rehabilitation work being conducted on infrastructure and public services that were damaged during the conflict. He attributed the destruction to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. Following the liberation of Khartoum, authorities moved to secure diplomatic missions, and several embassies have already reclaimed their premises.
The Wali urged the Swiss envoy to communicate the extent of the suffering caused by militia violations to the international community. He also encouraged efforts to pressure countries that support the militia to cease their backing and stop abuses against civilians.
