Khartoum State Wali Affirms Support for Armed Forces Amid Ongoing Conflict

Khartoum: The Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, has reiterated the unwavering support of all citizens for the armed forces in what is being termed as the “battle of dignity”. During a recent visit to the headquarters of the General Command of the Armed Forces, Hamza expressed his admiration for the resilience of the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers who have withstood the siege by rebel militia forces.

According to Sudan News Agency, the visit, which aimed to congratulate the armed forces on the unification of the armies, saw Hamza meet with the Chief of Staff, General Mohamed Osman Al-Hussein, and his deputies. Hamza emphasized the role of the armed forces as a national military body that enjoys the support of the Sudanese people, who have been vocal in their backing with the slogan “One army, One people”. He expressed optimism that victory is near and that the militia will soon be expelled.

Hamza also relayed the citizens’ joy over the daily successes against forces des
cribed as oppressive and aggressive, which are reportedly backed by international entities. He reaffirmed his government’s dedication to restoring services and rebuilding infrastructure in liberated areas to facilitate the return of citizens and the resumption of normal civilian life.

General Al-Hussein provided an update on the progress and victories of the armed forces, asserting their dominance in the conflict and their role as protectors against external threats. He expressed gratitude for the Wali’s visit, viewing it as a sign of solidarity with the citizens of Khartoum State. Al-Hussein reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to serving the people and supporting state government institutions to ensure the provision of stable and secure services.
