Khartoum: The Higher Committee for Emergencies and Crisis Management in Khartoum State reviewed preparations to ready the general environment for the return of the federal government to the national capital during a meeting held on Wednesday.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Khartoum State Government, Al-Hadi Abdel-Seed Ibrahim, and focused on ongoing efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure and public services across the state.
Khartoum Locality presented a report outlining completed work, including the cleaning of main streets and government premises. The committee directed authorities to continue follow-up on street landscaping, complete lighting works, and install road dividers.
In the health sector, the Acting Minister and Director-General of Health presented a report on disease vector control activities. The committee instructed the ministry to coordinate with localities to implement targeted anti-mosquito campaigns, intensify repairs of water pipe leaks, and urge citizens to monitor water levels in household storage tanks, which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
On electricity services, the meeting confirmed that recent interventions have restored power to several neighborhoods across the state, contributing to overall stability. Electricity officials reported that power transformers are arriving successively and are being distributed according to service location priorities, population density, and power supply capacity. They reassured citizens that transformer deliveries will continue in the coming period.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Water Corporation announced the operation of the water transmission line supplying Al-Haj Yousif from the Bahri Water Station, following an increase in production capacity. The corporation is also conducting a large-scale campaign to repair water pipe leaks.
The meeting further reviewed a report on the relocation of the long-distance bus terminal from Halayib Market in Karari locality to the Shendi Station in Bahri, directing the expedited implementation of the decision.
In environmental matters, the committee heard a report from the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Environment, Urban and Rural Promotion on environmental remediation efforts for the Abu Anja stream in Omdurman. The committee resolved to form a joint task force comprising all relevant entities to carry out the operation.
