Khartoum: The procedures for distributing mobile blood donation vehicles to 11 states have been finalized, marking a significant step in the national efforts to bolster blood transfusion services and support the health system across the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, the National Blood Transfusion Services Administration announced the completion of these distribution procedures. Dr. Saleh Adam Mohamed, Head of the Voluntary Blood Donation Department, stated that this initiative followed the official launch of the project. The event was sponsored and honored by Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, and attended by the Federal Minister of Health and the Director of the National Blood Transfusion Services Administration.
Dr. Mohamed emphasized that this initiative is part of the Lifeline Project, which seeks to broaden the voluntary blood donation base and enhance access to safe blood transfusion services, particularly in Sudan's peripheral areas. This effort is aimed at saving lives and aiding emergency cases and patients in need of blood.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the administration began distributing the mobile blood donation vehicles based on a strategic plan that ensures fairness and geographical coverage. The 11 states included in the distribution are Khartoum, Al Qadarif, River Nile, White Nile, Northern, Sennar, Kassala, Red Sea, Blue Nile, North Kordofan, and Al Jazeera.
Dr. Essam El-Din Hassan Ali, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Services Administration, highlighted that this achievement signifies the state's dedication to enhancing blood transfusion services. It also underscores the importance of strengthening partnerships between government institutions and society while nurturing a culture of voluntary blood donation as a humanitarian and national endeavor.
He further explained that the mobile blood donation vehicles are equipped with the necessary technical and medical standards to ensure the safety of donors and the quality of donated blood. These vehicles will facilitate blood donation campaigns in educational institutions, residential areas, and various community events.
