Al-dabbah: Minister of Interior Lieutenant General (Police) Babiker Samra on Saturday visited Al-Dabbah to assess the humanitarian conditions of displaced persons (IDPs) from North Darfur and oversee the launch of a food and shelter aid convoy. He was received by the Wali of Northern State, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Abdulhamid Ibrahim, along with State Security Committee, members of the state government, and leaders of the Popular Resistance Committees.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister and the Wali inaugurated the distribution of aid at the Azhari Al-Mubarak shelter in the Al-Afadh area, provided by the Ministry of Interior to support El-Fashir IDPs. They also inspected living conditions and assessed urgent needs at the centre.
Following the visit, Minister Samra met with the Investigation and Inquiry Committee on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia violations against IDPs, and with the Al-Dabbah Locality’s Emergency and Crisis Committee to discuss security and humanitarian measures.
He emphasized that the visit aims to ensure the immediate needs of displaced persons are met and to provide essential services, affirming the state government’s commitment to addressing violations by militias and delivering all necessary humanitarian support.
Lieutenant General Samra also praised the local community’s role in assisting IDPs and stressed ongoing cooperation between authorities, communities, and humanitarian organizations to improve conditions in the shelters.
